Hanging Out in a Blizzard

Emma claimed dibs on the best spot in the house for the duration of the Blizzard of 2013. I can't imagine the metal ribs are all that comfortable, but she likes to sleep on top, rather than simply curling up next to it. I keep expecting her to singe her fur (it's a steam system, which gets hotter than forced-water systems), but she does have enough sense to move if the steam is at full blast. We got a couple feet of snow, lost power for about four hours (and may have some more outages before the weekend is over). The snow on my deck was about 18" above the door's threshold, so it was a challenge getting the back door open far enough to get outside and shovel. My wonderful neighbors came over and helped, and also cleared a path between our houses and from my deck to the parking lot, so I'm all set, once there's a good enough reason for me to leave the house.
